Our
Paper
Here at Green Field, we have been producing recycled paper in San Diego, California since 1992. Someone recently said "Back then you were vague and now you are vogue".
Our Company has made a commitment to offset 100% of our company-wide electricity use by purchasing wind energy credits for our power usage in our manufacturing and office facility in San Diego, CA.
While sufficient wind energy was not available in San Diego, we were able to offset our total electricity use by partnering with a number of wind farms across the country through a system of renewable energy credits that brings together suppliers and buyers of wind energy. It is important to note that our purchase of renewable energy credits is a commitment we make in addition to paying our utility costs and finding ways to increase our overall energy efficiency. As part of our comprehensive strategy to support energy conservation and renewable energy, we also continue to explore ways to reduce energy use throughout all of our operations by supplementing them with other renewable energy technologies such as solar infrastructure, micro-hydro turbines and geothermal heating.
All of our handmade papers, including our signature Grow A NoteŽ seed embedded paper, are made with 100% post consumer waste. We infuse our various papers with anything from garlic skins to coffee chaff to scraps of denim clothing. Additionally, we use our own junk mail to create a fun paper called, what else, 100% Junk MailŽ. When we color our papers, we use earth pigments not dyes.
Our papermakers take pride in making consistent quality sheets. Because of this consistency, our handmade recycled papers are able to be printed using convential printing processes. All of our printed matter is with soy-based inks.
Our Hemp HeritageŽ line of paper is combination of 25% North American grown hemp and 75% post consumer. This paper is boasts an elegant laid finish and is acid and chlorine bleach free. Without using bleach it is a natural white color with small flecks of the hemp barely visible.
We offer it in three weights. Our 24# is a bond weight suitable for stationery and writing. We also convert our 24# into envelopes which match the stationery. Our 70# is a card stock with a laid finish on one side and smooth on the other. This paper is used in business cards, greeting cards, posters and is sought after by artists for drawing and sketching. Finally our 110# is a cover stock that is used as hang tags, business cards and in portfolio covers. This paper is favored by artists for watercolor.
